?

Let me brighten up your Monday morning if you just arrived in the office :-)

Emily and Richard were married in June, at a local Church followed by a marquee reception in a field. They wanted a relaxed day with a loose Spanish theme following their choice of wedding breakfast.. paella!

They went bold and bright with their wedding d?cor, going with an almost ombr? feel, with white, yellow, orange and red colours, i am loving those poms!! Gorgeous blooms, gorgeous cake, gorgeous couple.

Thanks so much to the amazing David J Perkins for sharing his wonderful images with us this morning.

Names?. Emily & Richard

Wedding Date?. 9th June?2012

The Proposal?. Richard had given hope of getting me up the Malverns to propose, which had been his vision ? I was 8 months pregnant, sitting on the sofa and eating toast in my joggers like Waynetta slob! Actually it was lovely ? just nice and relaxed, no pressure ? I think it was a surprise to both of us to be having the conversation. I?cried!

The Vision for the day?. We are not really ?centre of attention? people, so it was really important to us to create a relaxed atmosphere so we could cope with it! We looked at a few venues, but didn?t really feel right until we hit on the idea of a marquee in a field next to my Mum?s house and the ceremony in the village church. Then we decided to have the paella pans as our food, everything else just fell into place and we went loosely with a Spanish theme.

The Planning process?. Lists, lists, lists! We got the big stuff sorted first, then concentrated on the details ? and I figured as long as the big stuff was in place, the odd omission wouldn?t be noticed if I didn?t get round to it! I did a lot of internet research on each thing ? finding suppliers, thinking of decoration ideas etc. It felt good to tick things off the list, and my approach was just do one thing at a time, but keep plugging away so it wouldn?t be a huge stressful rush at the last minute.

The Venue? We got married in the Church of St James, Sutton Cheney, a small, simple and beautiful village church with a lovely feel to it. Our reception was just up the road in a marquee in a field, with a stunning view of the Leicestershire countryside, next door to my Mum?s?house.

The Dress + Accessories?.. Fairly simple but classic shape, with some simple detail on the body. I got a lace bolero jacket to match as I didn?t want bare shoulders in church, and it finished the look off nicely. Shoes from BHS, and little hair twists from Claire?s Accessories ? that?s it!

Finding the dress?. I found the dress quite quickly, but it wasn?t at all what I was expecting. I had a simple vintage lace dress in mind, but everything I tried on just didn?t suit me. Eventually I just asked my Mum to bring some other dresses that I hadn?t looked at before to the changing room, and it was then we had the ?wow!? moment!

Groom?s attire? Richard wore a grey morning suit with an ivory waistcoat, a burnt orange cravat and handkerchief, and a buttonhole with 2 roses, one red one orange.

The Readings + Music?. We had 2 wonderful readings! They were both a surprise, chosen by our readers. The first was a personal poem written by our friend Pete, which was better than we could ever have hoped for! The second was done by my brother Alex, who had been asked to choose a reading for the part of the ceremony where we had a thanksgiving for our son Bramany. Alex chose ?Oh the places you?ll go!? by Dr Seuss ? and he read it wonderfully (it is not an easy reading to pull off), and it was choreographed with Bramany pulling Richard up and down the chancel ? it had us all laughing!

We chose 3 hymns that most people should know ? we had All Things Bright and Beautiful, Lord of All Hopefulness and One More Step. The organ in the church was very simple so we left it to the organist to play something suitable as we were coming in and out, and it was?super!

We had Andalus, an acoustic three piece band playing Spanish guitar music, then in the evening a fantastic Gipsy Kings tribute band ? http://bamboleoband.com/

Beautiful bridesmaids?.. As we were trying to keep things simple I just had one bridesmaid, my sister Elizabeth who had a blast! She found her bright yellow dress at Karen Millen, and wore orange shoes and orange flowers in her hair, which was up to one side. The added bonus was she was able to wear the dress again at a wedding a few weeks?later.

The Flowers? We were very lucky in the church that there had been a flower festival the week before, so the church was crammed with flowers! I wasn?t picky about the colours, it was just so lovely to have so many flowers there ? I could never have afforded what was there otherwise!

In the marquee we had stunning candelabra decorations, with flowers in red, orange and yellow, with lovely gloriosa lilies, two-tone gerberas and red and orange roses. My bouquet was much more formal of roses, keeping it simple so it didn?t detract from the dress. My sister?s bouquet was completely different and more fun in line with what she was wearing.

Our florists put so much thought into it and came up with exactly what I wanted after giving them our brief ? I just went along with a wedding flowers magazine and showed them the kind of colours and style, and described what I was trying to achieve. They researched flowers I was interested in, and did a mock up for me before the day ? and most importantly since they are the experts I let them have some licence to change flowers and make decisions to make sure the flowers were fantastic on the?day.

The Cake? We were originally going to go for an M&S cake but I was really struggling to think how to decorate it to make it a bit different, and I was talking to my friend Danielle one day and she just offered to make our cake. Dani makes a mean carrot cake and she practiced all the decorations beforehand, she hired a cake stand, arrived early on the day, iced it there and then and dressed it with the decorations she had made. It was fabulous and so personal!

Your Photographer?. We wanted natural, informal photos and our photographer David did an amazing job ? he was great at putting us at our ease and soon we all forgot he was around and he just got on with it! How he managed to be everywhere at once I have no idea, but we are so happy with our photos!

The Details + D?cor?. The marquee was completely plain, so we needed to add colour in our decorations. We had hanging basket brackets on the poles of the marquee and after some YouTube research I found out to make tissue pom poms which we threaded together and hung on the poles. The flowers I have already mentioned. For the paper-based items, I bought a corner punch in the shape of a daisy and we used it on the orders of service, table numbers, menus and table plan, which was really easy but looked good.

The Honeymoon?. Having a little one doesn?t make it very easy to have a honeymoon, but we had a couple of nights away at Breadsall Priory near Derby to recover! We had some lovely countryside walks, a massage, time on the driving range and soome lovely food and?wine.

Memorable moments? Wow well where do I start? ? catching everyone on the hop when I arrived early at the church for a chat with everyone ? the service and readings ? hearing the music playing in the marquee when we approached it, and seeing it filled with people when we walked in ? Richard?s lovely (and funny) speech and my Dad?s mad one! ? I could go?on!
