5 Star Guide to Managing a Meeting | 5 Star Business Management ...


Urgh!! Another meeting?!? How many times have you had these exact thoughts? Too often meetings can be unproductive and a huge waste of time. Are you tired of leaving meetings with more questions than answers, the feeling that you have wasted 1-hour of your time, or thinking that meeting was completely unnecessary.

Use these five tips to manage your meetings ? step 1 may help you decide that your meeting needs to be cancelled.

1. Why are we meeting again? ? Make sure that everyone knows why this meeting is being called by setting an agenda. Your agenda should include who is attending, the points up for discussion, and any supporting material needed for the meeting. This also gives the attendees an opportunity to send any information that they would like to discuss.

2. Think outside the 1-hour meeting. Once you have your agenda, you should be able to determine if this requires 5 or 60 minutes.

3. Determine the best setting for your meeting.

  • Phone ? for quick meetings and it can help spending too much time
  • In Person -

4. Who is doing what? Confirm the date time and location of the meeting

5. Ready. Set. Action. Once the meeting is over be sure to confirm who is responsible for any action items as well as a when they are due.
