The Education Department at Flagler College-Tallahassee invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Education with a specialization in English as a Second Language to begin fall 2012. The successful candidate will be expected to teach ESOL courses in cross cultural communication and curriculum materials, foundations courses, and other courses as needed; network and coordinate with local public schools regarding the education of English language learners in K-12 classrooms; coordinate the ESOL program under the requirements of the 1990 Florida Consent Decree; advise students and serve on college committees; and engage in ongoing professional development. It is anticipated that the position will be filled at the rank of assistant professor; however, candidates at the associate rank are invited to apply. A doctorate in TESOL or closely related field, possession of a valid K-12 teaching certificate with ESOL certification or endorsement, and a minimum of three years experience teaching English as a Second Language (preferably K-12) are required. An enthusiastic commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students is essential. Expertise in applied linguistics is also preferred.
